Bibles for Tokelau

On the 18th of July 2009 the Dayspring Ministries yacht (Sea Hawk) will arrive in Tokelau with 500 newly printed New Testaments onboard.
Seahawk’s first adventure on the mission trail will be working in conjunction with the Bible Society to deliver the first ever native translation of the New Testament, to the tiny island nation of Tokelau. This exciting event is taking place 35 years after it was first discussed in 1974.
The delivery on the New Testament has been eagerly awaited by the Tokelau people for many decades. Because there was previously no Tokelau language bible, Tokelau people have always used a Samoan bible. (The Samoan language is related, but different.)
As you can imagine a lot of work is gone into preparing the yacht for this event. Please keep us in your prayers.
Dayspring Ministries Trust Dedication

Roger Bolam and Chris Bryan were both present for the launch and dedication of Seahawk. Technical issues (additional work on re welding parts of the centerboard) meant we were unable to get the boat back in the water on the day, but the dedication went ahead, on the hard!
Solomone and his very cute grand daughter traveled from Suva to supervise the service, and a Methodist minister conducted the blessing and dedication of Seahawk. We were encouraged to have a good number of people attend, many of them unexpected four people from Marine Reach, the owners of the yacht Quest, local Christians from Vuda point and Lautoka, Rod White and a friend from Brisbane.
We sang Amazing Grace, prayed, shared and rejoiced in the support of new friends, new directions and Gods abundance and provisions.
Seahawk is now (in service). Praise the Lord.

New Dayspring Vessel Purchased
May 7, 2009 10:58 pm

The Ministry purchased a vessel for this work in January 2009. ‘Seahawk’ is a Fijian registered 53 ft yawl first launched in 1969, with a lifting centreboard keel which will be a great advantage in navigating many of the shallow passes through the coral reefs.
An extensive refit has commenced, with most systems being thoroughly inspected and overhauled to render her fit to commence her first voyage for Dayspring Ministries in June 2009. New sails have been ordered, new navigation gear is being selected and a huge array of other tasks are hopefully soon to be undertaken.
The yacht will be capable of being sailed by a crew of two; however it is anticipated that Ministry teams will often also be on board.
